International Credit Transfer Grant 2020
The Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia launched a program named Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (Freedom Learning – Freedom University) in 2019. The objective of this program is to support the students mastering different disciplines for having better performance and actualization in the industry. This program gives opportunity for students to choose the courses they would like to study. This program gives opportunity for the students to study in another different major in the same university or in another university for one semester to two semesters (equivalent to as many as 20 – 40 credits. Through this program, the students can develop their creativity, capacity, personality, needs, and autonomy by having different experience and exposure.
With the spirit of the Merdeka Belajar _ Kampus Merdeka, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia launched a funding program for International Credit Transfer 2020. And, STIKI Malang can successfully get the funding with many other national wide universities for sending its students to study in its partner university overseas. In collaboration with Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U), Philippines, STIKI sends four students of Informatics Department to study at ISAT U for one semester. They are Nanda Bima Mahendra, Melanaumi Aprili, Suhendra, and Hikmah. Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the International Credit Transfer program this year is conducted online. Even though the students cannot have the international exposure and experience directly in the host university, it is highly expected that the spirit and the objectives of the Merdeka Belajar -Kampus Merdeka program can be implemented successfully. In the International Credit Transfer 2020 program, the academic credits earned from this program is acknowledged and transferred to STIKI Malang for the completion of their study at STIKI Malang.
The International Credit Transfer 2020 program also supports the internationalization of the universities in Indonesia. It has supported the international activities that have been conducted by STIKI Malang through its Office of International Affairs by having active collaboration with its university partners overseas in providing the international experience and exposure, either inbound or outbound. It is also expected that this program can increase the students’ motivation in participating in many international programs held by Office of International Affairs of STIKI Malang.
